There are many things out there that could trigger the appearance of rosacea symptoms, being that this skin disease has a well know allergenic component. However, the most important rosacea triggers remain:
- Certain foods: there are foods out there that are considered definite rosacea triggers. For example, if you know that you suffer from bouts of rosacea, try to avoid eating liver, yogurt, sour cream, cheese, chocolate, vanilla, soy sauce, eggplant, avocado, uncooked fruits (including citrus fruits, tomatoes and bananas) and spicy foods.
- Certain drinks: the thing about beverages is that almost anything that one can think of is considered and verified as a "bona fide" rosacea trigger. Thus, alcohol is definitely something that a rosacea sufferer should not drink, but they should also avoid hot drinks, like hot cider, hot chocolate, coffee and tea. From the alcohol variety, the worst triggers are red wine, beer, bourbon, gin, vodka and champagne.
- Emotional factors: people under a lot of stress or people that tend to suffer a great deal of emotional distress over a short period of time will increase their chances of a rosacea bout by almost 80%. Therefore, try to relax when you feel overstressed and your skin should be just fine.
- Skin care products: cosmetics that contain alcohol, witch hazel or fragrances should be used carefully and only after they have been tested previously
